We had several days away  with  one of our sons at his property to the West of Melbourne, a nice quiet relaxed time, driving back home again we went  around the lovely Great Ocean Road and stopped at Lorne for a bite to eat. I haven’t been there for  many years, and do remember it as a lovely quiet holiday seaside town, but  now heavens its full of apartment blocks, lots of cafes, shops, and masses of people, and I thought expensive.

I felt sad at the change in this lovely town, but then I think that same scenario  is happening in  most seaside towns as people discover  how lovely most of our coastal area’s are.

I hope Albany remains a closely guarded secret for my remaining years of visits there. Strict rules have meant no hi-rise and nothing higher than 2 stories in main streets so it remains an olde worlde, lovely historical place. The climate means few visitors during the winter months which is not good for business but great for everyone else.

It’s getting to be like that everywhere, Victor harbor has changed dramatically over the last 15 or so years,  mainly because people from Sydney and  Melbourne found out that if they sold a semi wreck of a house there they could have one of the best places in victor,  build a big spacious house overlooking the ocean and still have enough money left to live on in comfort
